Planning for your High School Experience
Farmington Public Schools offers a variety of courses to support students as they develop proficiencies in multiple content areas aligned with Science, Social Studies, Math, English, World Language, Fine and Performing Arts, and Physical Education and Health. Our course catalog also represents our commitment to providing students with offerings that allow them to engage in deeper study of specific content areas or explore something new.
In preparation for their post-secondary path, students create a 22-credit course plan from 9th to 12th grade. Some students enter 9th grade with core credit requirements from middle school, opening space to diversify their course plan. Others plan for CTE and Dual Enrollment courses earning certifications and/or credits they can take with them into their post-secondary path. Advanced Placement offerings are a part of many course plans. The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme enriches student schedules as students work to get an FPS and IB diploma. Courses specific to meeting the needs of English Learners and students with IEPs are also available as a part of a student's course plan when needed. A homeroom and flex time are built into each student's schedule for connection, support, guidance, and special experiences. We expand opportunities for students through our partnership with Oakland School Technical Campus and the Oakland ACE (early college) program.
