District Cognia Accreditation

Cognia

Based on a set of rigorous research-based standards and evidence-based criteria, the accreditation process examines the whole institution–its policies, programs, practices, learning conditions, and cultural context–to determine how well the parts work together to carry out the institution’s vision and meet the needs of every learner. Accreditation isn’t about passing a one-time inspection. Rather, accreditation recognizes education providers that demonstrate and sustain their commitments to continuous improvement and better learner outcomes.

Cognia, formerly known as AdvancED, is a non-profit, non-partisan organization that conducts rigorous, on-site external reviews of Pre-K-12 schools and school systems to ensure that all learners realize their full potential. Their goal isn’t to certify that schools are good enough. Rather, their commitment is to help schools improve.

Farmington Public Schools first earned its accreditation in 2011 and went through the reaccreditation process again in 2016 and recently, went through the reaccreditation process in 2021. The District and all of our schools have their AdvancED Accreditation.
