Superintendent Search 2024
On Thursday, July 25, the Board of Education met to discuss the Superintendent Succession Planning Committee recommendations to address the Superintendent vacancy. On Tuesday, August 13, the Board appointed Dr. Kelly Coffin, current Farmington Public Schools’ Assistant Superintendent of Innovation and Strategic Initiatives, to serve as the Interim Superintendent. The Board recognizes that Dr.Coffin will provide the stability desired in the short term while the Board conducts more extensive feedback in determining a permanent solution.
The Board is interested in a process that will yield the best results and hopes community feedback will help inform future direction . There is no formal timeline for this process. In the meantime, the Board is confident in leadership across the District and looks forward to the opportunities for talent within the District to learn and grow.
Thank you to everyone who provided valuable feedback regarding the search for a new superintendent. More than 700 people responded to the survey, many participated in focus groups, and many others shared their thoughts directly with the Board of Education through emails and other communications.
The survey closed on November 5th. According to the external consultant engaged to summarize the feedback, the survey results offer a margin of error of ±4%, with a 95% confidence level. The Superintendent Succession Planning Committee met this week to review these results, discuss the executive summary provided by the consultant, and carefully consider more than 250 comments submitted by community members.
The Committee will present its findings and recommendations to the Board of Education at the next scheduled Board of Education meeting on Tuesday, November 19, 2024. At that time, the Board will review the feedback and discuss the next steps in identifying a permanent superintendent for our district.
