Career & Technical Student Organizations (CTSO)

Joining BPA, CyberPatriot, DECA, HOSA, Skills USA = More Real World Relevance for FPS Students

A Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) is a “club” for students enrolled in a CTE program that engages in hands-on leadership, community service and competitive activities as an integral part of the instructional program. Each of FPS’ three high schools have CTSO chapters that meet the requirements of state-approved CTE programs and are an engaging opportunity for students to build skills. The school chapters are led by teachers and a student-elected Board.

BPA - Business Professionals of America serves students who are enrolled in a business education program. The mission of BPA is to contribute to the preparation of a world-class workforce through the advancement of leadership, citizenship, academic and technological skills. Farmington students who take courses in Computer Applications, Web Design, Accounting and Finance, and Marketing frequently participate in their high school BPA chapter. CyberPatriot – CyberPatriot is an association of students enrolled in the cybersecurity program. The National Youth Cyber Education Program was created by the Air Force Association (AFA) to inspire K-12 students toward careers in cybersecurity or other science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) disciplines critical to our nation's future. DECA – Distributive Education Clubs of America is an association of students who are planning careers in marketing, management and entrepreneurship. HOSA - Health Occupations Students of America-Future Health Professionals is an association for students interested in pursuing a health profession. The mission of HOSA is to enhance the delivery of compassionate, quality health care by providing opportunities for knowledge, skill and leadership development of all health science technology education students. MITES - Michigan Industrial Education Society is for students who are enrolled in the Architecture or Engineering programs that help empower students, teachers, and stakeholders to grow, lead, collaborate, and advocate for industrial and technological education and workforce initiatives. SkillsUSA – SkillsUSA is an organization serving students enrolled in training programs in technical, skilled and service occupations.
