GRIT & Growth Mindset

Kenbrook hosts multi-age group lessons every other Friday throughout the year called Community Circles to teach lessons on the concepts of GRIT, growth mindset, perseverance, resilience, failure, success, the power of the word "yet," and many other related topics.  It is important for students to understand that learning can be challenging. However, with the right mindset, we can all achieve at high levels. These student-centered lessons help create a school culture where our students get smarter every day by setting goals and never giving up! This work is based on the research of Angela Duckworth and Carol Dweck.

Principal's Bio

Benjamin Smith, Principal  

• 5 years teaching English in Taiwan and 6th grade
• 1 year Instructional Coach and Curriculum Specialist
• 8 years elementary school principal
• 14 total years in education
