- Authorizing Google - What does Authorizing Google mean?
- The first time you try to open a Google doc, sheet, or slide in Canvas or the first time a student tries to submit an assignment, there will be a message that says the student’s Google account must be authorized.
- Click Authorize. Choose the correct Google account. You must give Canvas permission to “talk” with the Google account.
- If there is a problem accessing Google Documents or assignments:
- The most common reason for this not working is that Canvas cannot choose between multiple Google accounts.
- Make sure that all other Google Accounts are closed.
- You can also clear your browser’s cache and cookies. If you are using Chrome, click on the three dots in the upper right corner
- Click on More Tools / Clear browsing data.

Gradebook
Gradebook Clarification: We have received a number of questions about which gradebook should students and families look at for official grades.
- MiStar is the official gradebook of record.
- Teachers have the ability to score work within Canvas, however MiStar is the official gradebook.
- The scores may not match when looking at Canvas and MiStar for a number of reasons. Some reasons may be:
- There is a delay between the systems to update.
- Some classes may have work that is graded outside of Canvas
Please refer to MiStar for the official grades.
