Back to School - Forms and Information


Welcome back! We are eagerly anticipating a great new school year featuring many new staff members, students, and programs. The first day of school is September 6, and is a full day. School hours are 7:45 a.m. – 2:33 p.m. School pictures and ID’s will be taken during school on September 21. Envelopes to order picture packets will be sent home with students the first week of school.

Be sure you are signed up for the listserv notification system to receive important information in your email. Log on to the FPS district website www.farmington.k12.mi.us and follow the listserv link on the left to sign up.


Farmington Public Schools is moving to a new student database called Zangle. You will receive a letter with information from the FPS district the week of August 22 with log on instructions to Parent Connect (replacing Family Access). Please keep your password to yourself. Students will receive their own password when school begins. Be sure to Log on, review your students’ emergency information and notify us with any updates. You will use this program to view student schedules, grades, and attendance.

Obligations
If a student has an obligation (i.e., textbooks, sports/music uniforms, media obligations, etc.), he/she will not be permitted to participate in any co-curricular activities until the obligation is cleared. This includes, but is not limited to, athletics, intramurals, clubs, and dances, not for credit band activities, honors or graduation ceremonies and student parking passes. Cash or checks, payable to Farmington Public Schools, will be accepted.

9th Grade - Link Crew Freshman Orientation
North Farmington High School invites the Class of 2015 to our fourth annual Link Crew Freshmen Orientation. The program runs from 8:00 am – 12:00 pm on September 1, 2011 in the Main Gymnasium. The purpose of this orientation is to make the transition from middle school to high school a positive one. Seniors and juniors will be serving as leaders and mentors to the freshmen. Large and small group activities are designed to address students’ needs and concerns in an enjoyable manner. Wear comfortable clothing and don’t bring all your stuff…travel light! 10th-12th Grade New to North:  Orientation and Transition
All new 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students should come to an orientation from 10:00-12:00. It starts in the media center. This is for students who are new to North only. Students should bring a memento from their former school, a yearbook, newspaper, shirt with logo or key fob with the school colors on it, if possible. Students will meet North kids, get a tour and learn what North is all about. Voluntary Student Accident Insurance – Hard copies will be sent home with students.
The District does not provide any type of health or accident insurance for injuries incurred by your child at school.

REASONS TO PURCHASE THIS COVERAGE:

  • Deductibles and co-payments in your health plan. Many health plans have increased the amount of out-of-pocket expenses.
  • No insurance.

This plan will provide benefits for medical expenses incurred because of an accident. If you have other insurance, the benefits will be supplemental and apply to your deductible and/or co-payment. All questions regarding the coverage may be directed to Student Assurance Services, Inc. at (651) 439-7098 or toll free at 1-800-328-2739.

Activity Fee

All students participating in any extracurricular club or organization. The activity fee will cover as many clubs and activities in which a student would like to participate during that school year. The fee will be applied to those activities that are not co-curricular and not school-service oriented. It will also apply to activities that meet on a regularly scheduled basis and for specific periods of time, similar to an athletic schedule. Examples include, but are not be limited to:
Musicals, Debate, DECA, Drama, Forensics, Model United Nations, National Honor Society, Poms, Quiz Bowl, SADD, Marching Band and Equestrian. This is payable online through Payschools.

504 Eligibility - Child Find

If you suspect that your child may need 504 accommodations, a provision of the American Disabilities Act (ADA), please call the Child Find Department at 248. 785. 2060 for ages birth to five years and for ages six through 25, please contact your child's school administrator. Eligible children are referred to appropriate programs and services. For more information follow the Parent Resources Link.
