Welcome to East PTSA

Involvement. It's a big responsibility. Because it takes time to involve yourself in the life of your middle school child. What are their friends like? What excites them at school? Questions like these can lead you to the keys to the success of your child in school, with friends and in life.

You can help your child succeed by providing a home that encourages learning and supports your child's physical, mental and emotional development. And, you can help your child succeed by working with the school and other groups that have an impact on your child. East PTSA was organized to serve as a resource for East parents, teachers and students. Join us today to help make the new East a stronger community!

Decades of research show that when parents are involved students have:

  • Higher grades, test scores and graduation rates
  • Better school attendance
  • Increased motivation, better self-esteem
  • Lower rates of suspension
  • Decreased use of drugs and alcohol
  • Fewer instances of violent behavior
  • Higher enrollment rates in post-secondary education

The East Middle School parent group was established in November 1996 with the goal of increasing parent participation in our middle school and supporting our staff and students. We believe it is just as important for parents to be part of the middle school experience as it was in elementary school, although in different ways. Our parent group was reestablished as a Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) unit under the National PTA umbrella in May 2010.

We provide volunteer help for academic and social activities, sponsor education programs for our students and parents, provide a forum to meet with East staff and parents and participate in the larger Farmington Public Schools community through PTA Council.

Membership is open to everyone who supports children. Membership is $6 for the first family member and $3 for each additional family member. Membership privileges include voting at PTSA meetings, a free East school directory and discounts at designated PTSA events. September is membership month!
