Early Childhood Centers: Accreditation

Farmington Public Schools' Early Childhood Programs receive NAEYC accreditation

The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) has accredited both Early Childhood Centers (Alameda Center and Farmington Community Center) in Farmington Public Schools.

NAEYC accreditation is a rigorous, voluntary process by which early childhood programs demonstrate that they meet national standards of excellence. The Centers engaged in an intensive self-study which involved collecting information from parents, teachers, administrators, and classroom observations. An on-site visit was conducted by NAEYC staff to verify that the Centers provide children with developmentally appropriate experiences, interact with students in a positive manner, and offer opportunities for parents to be involved. NAEYC also validates staff who maintain safe and healthy environments for children and comply with state licensing guidelines and local laws with early childhood credentials .

This prestigious recognition has been achieved by only seven percent of early childhood programs nationwide. Farmington Public Schools is proud to display the NAEYC torch - the sign of NAEYC accreditation and mark of early childhood programs that have made a commitment to excellence for young children and families.
